S&P Capital IQ: Tools

Capital IQ provides users with a Microsoft Office plugin that must be downloaded and installed on the user's personal computer.  The plugin contains add-ins for Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.

Note! The plugin is not compatible with Office 365. The MS Office applications must be installed software on a user's personal computer.

How to get the plugin

1. Login to S&P Capital IQ. If you don't yet have a Capital IQ account, you'll need to register.
2. Under the "My Profile" section of the left menu bar, click "Downloads".
3. Click the linked "Download Office Plugin (New Installer)" link as shown below.

Try or confirm the following if you're unable to login/connect to Capital IQ via the Excel plugin.

• Remember to use the login credentials you created for your Capital IQ account to login to the plugin - not your Duke login. Both the plugin and the Capital IQ website should be accessible using the same credentials you created for the Cap IQ website.
• You will also need to be logged into the Duke VPN and select the Library Resources group in order to use the Excel plugin if you are off-campus or otherwise outside the Duke wired network or Duke Blue WiFi network. Download our VPN guide for details.
