From 441, Armenian literature, like Syrian, was viewed as primarily religious. The tenth century saw original spiritual texts from Gregory of Nareg with a Commentary on the Song of Songs and Sacred Elegies. Armenian spirituality was influenced by the mytical liturgy, prayers, and hymns.
