Dictionary of Art Historian Sources : e-Catalogs

For researchers creating entries for the Dictionary of Art Historians at Duke University. All proprietary material is liked to the Duke University catalog.

Duke catalog

1. "Catalog" tab to the Duke Libraries catalog

  • Search under art historian's name as a KEYWORD, not author or subject.  Keyword allows for finding the historian's name in a table of contents or mentioned elsewhere.
  • Look at all the subject headings and click all that might be relevant.  i.e.,

    Driscol, David (1938-)
Art historians -- American-- African Americans
You would look at these books, too.

Worldcat - combined catalog of all libraries - use the version through the library catalog and not the free version.

Every researcher needs to consult Worldcat to find:

1. Dissertation titles (these may not be in PQDT)

2. Festschfits (honorary publication)  may contain biographies

3.  historian publications
