Install Excel Add-In

Once your personal login is validated and you open the Bloomberg Service, you can then install the Excel Add-in to display the Bloomberg tab in Excel for added functionality.

On the library computers you need to install the Excel Add-in each time you're on a terminal you haven't used before (information kept with your personal profile on each computer), or after computer maintenance has removed your profile.

  1. Open Bloomberg
  2. Open Excel
  3. Windows Start Menu…Bloomberg…Install Office Add-in
  4. NOTE: The following steps may be needed to make it work after equipment or software updates!
    1. Start Menu ... Bloomberg ... Run "API Environment Diagnostics"
    2. Click the Start button and let it run diagnostics; then click the Repair button to fix problems.
  5. Close Excel
  6. Open Excel again: Bloomberg tab should be there
  7. Template Library: XLTP command

NOTE:Some users have noted problems with pushing data from Bloomberg to Excel (by clicking on red Excel links in a Bloomberg window). If this occurs, just go in the opposite direction: use the dialogs from the Bloomberg ribbon in Excel to pull the data into Excel.

Exit Bloomberg and Windows

  1. Under the Tool Icon (gear) dropdown in the upper right of any of the Bloomberg windows choose Exit Bloomberg
  2. After closing Bloomberg, from the Windows Start menu in lower left, next to Restart,
click the small arrow, then choose Log off.
