In the "Books & Media" tab of the Duke Library catalog conduct a "Subject Heading" search for "Sources", "Personal narratives", "Interviews" or "Correspondence."  For example:

  • Europe, Eastern -- Politics and government -- 1989- -- Sources
  • NSZZ "Solidarność" (Labor organization) -- Interviews
  • Political persecution -- Soviet Union -- Personal narratives
  • Ukraine -- History -- Orange Revolution, 2004 -- Sources
  • Gorbachev, Mikhail Sergeevich, 1931- -- Correspondence

For e-only published sources, use limit the search results by "Physical Media -- Online"

Newspaper articles are primary documents for the time period in which they were published. See the list of Russian and East European Historical Newspapers. The following three titles are available in English, presented on a cross-searchable platform:
