AMES 415K: Interethnic Intimacies: Getting Started

Research guide for Dr. Aimee Kwon's Duke Kunshan course, spring 2016

In-Class Assignment

Please consider the following questions as you explore the resources:

  • What resources did you find on your topic?  Please describe.
  • For each collection or title, pay attention to the following:
    • How is it organized?
    • Is it easy to navigate?
    • Is it useful for this topic? Why?
    • What are some assumptions (biases) behind its organization and presentation?
    • What is present? What is missing?
  • What keywords would you use to search for information on your topic?  Please make a list to share with your classmates.
  • Did you find resources on the internet that need to be added to the guide?

For each group, please select 1 person to write down your findings and email this list to Linda Daniel, linda.daniel@duke.edu.  Have either 1 or 2 people present to the class.  Each group will have 7-10 minutes to make a presentation.

*The group that does the best job (determined by Dr. Kwon) will receive a prize at the end of the presentations.
