Museum/Curatorial Studies: Book Catalogs

ARH 222S (Price)

Catalogs

1. Duke Catalog

Use your natural language to find ONE book that's relevant.  Then go into the record and click the subject headings assigned to that book to find more like it.

These are all library subject headings

  • Art museum directors -- United States -- Interviews.
  • Museum techniques -- Exhibitions.
  • Museums -- Data processing.
  • Art museum curators -- United States -- Biography.
  • Art -- Exhibition techniques
  • Museum curators
  • Art thefts.
  • Stark, Ray -- Art collections -- Catalogs

2. Google Books & LIBX (install)

Google Books allows you to search books by key-word.  It does not display the whole book.  Use LIBX.

LIBX is browser tool that will let you quickly look up items you find in WP, Google Books, etc. in the library’s catalog to find the full text.

3. Worldcat - combined catalog of all libraries

Use Worldcat to locate exhibition catalogs and books for Document Delivery and archives of collections.  There's a "libraries with this item" link that shows NC libraries first.
