Hello!

Welcome to the library guide for Sapphic Cinema with Professor Madeleine Collier. This guide is designed to provide resources and tips for conducting library research for your assignments. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your course librarian, Danette Pachtner.

Research 101 - Evaluating Resources

Click through 6 short tutorials  that give an overview of libraries & accounts, finding books, finding articles, citing sources, advanced search, evaluating sources. The Evaluating Sources section includes discussion of Scholarly vs. Popular.

Start your searching

Locate books, films, recordings, journals, and more using the Books & Media search. Start with a keyword search, and narrow results using the column on the left.

You can search for films in a quick way from the Search & Find Film & Video page.

A quick way to find recordings specifically is to start your search from the Music Library homepage. You'll also find lots of links to streaming audio resources there.

Search TRLN to find and request books from our consortial partners, UNC-Chapel Hill, NCCU, and NC State. Delivery to campus is usually only 2 business days.

Can't wait? You can use your Duke Card to check books out anytime if you make the trip yourself to partner TRLN libraries!

Try WorldCat to search most North American libraries simultaneously; use "get it @ Duke" to request what Duke doesn't own via Interlibrary Loan. Allow 2 weeks on average.
