Off Campus Access

Current Duke students, faculty, and staff have access to electronic library materials from off campus.

Most databases, eBooks, and other electronic resources use EZproxy authentication. Some databases require the use of the VPN. VPN may also work in cases when EZproxy does not.

EZproxy

  1. Start at the All, CatalogDatabases, or E-Journals page, or follow a link.
  2. A pop-up window will ask for your NetID and password.  Once logged in, you will be able to access any library resources online for the rest of your browser session.

VPN

  1. Go to OIT's VPN page for software installation.
  2. When logging in, select 'Library Resources Only' in the 'Group' and sign in with your NetID and password.

Google Scholar - Library Links

Google Scholar is an excellent tool for searching across a set of scholarly journals and books. When you’re using Google Scholar off campus, you’ll need to set your Scholar Settings to recognize Duke University Libraries.

  • Click this link to set Library Links at Google Scholar.
  • Enter Duke University in the box.
  • Make sure you click the Save button before beginning your search!
Goolge Scholar Setting for Library Link

Once your preferences are set, you’ll see the Get it at Duke link next to your search results. The Get it at Duke link will connect you to the online or print version of the article/book in the library.
