Duke Kunshan University Overview

Duke Kunshan University (DKU), established in 2013, is a world-class liberal arts institution in Kunshan, China. It was established through a partnership between Duke University in the U.S. and Wuhan University in China. Known for its innovative, interdisciplinary academic programs and commitment to critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, DKU began admitting students in 2014 with graduate programs and a Global Learning Semester. In 2018, it launched its four-year undergraduate degree program, blending the liberal arts tradition with a global outlook. Situated in the Yangcheng Lake Science and Technology Park, the 200-acre high-tech campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including classrooms, housing, and recreational spaces that support a vibrant academic and student community.

The university’s mission is to prepare globally-minded leaders through an integrated, multi-disciplinary curriculum rooted in academic excellence, critical inquiry, cross-cultural understanding, and service. Its core principles include fostering curiosity, tolerance, ethical leadership, and a liberal arts pedagogy that emphasizes educational breadth and free inquiry.
