Women in the Public Sphere

Women in the Public Sphere

This panel will offer a conversation on the role of women in the public sphere in contemporary Turkey. Turkey, a country of nearly 80 million offers a case study on the role of Islam, multiculturalism, minorities, diversity and the role/s of women within these contexts. Despite turmoil in the country and the Middle East region more

broadly, women in Turkey continue to play a vital role in the public sphere.

The panelists bring various perspectives to this thematic conversation, one which will focus on women’s roles vis-à-vis Islam, LGBTQ rights and activities, minorities, and similar topics.
