North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCES) is a university-based consumer education, information and research dept.  Resources include:

NC has nine local chapters of Slow Food USA, supporting "good, clean and fair food." 

Slow Food Triangle "celebrates local food and the people who grow and make it."

Many of the state's Slow Food chapters have local food events and offer directories to restaurants that feature locally sourced food.

CEFS is a partnership between NCSU, N.C. A & T and the N.C. Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS).
