APA Style

APA is a common citation style in many social sciences and natural sciences fields. The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) has excellent guidance and examples.

A journal article cited in APA style follows this pattern:

Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, volume number(issue number), pages. https://doi.org/xx.xxx/yyyy

A book cited in APA style follows this pattern:

Author, A. A. (Year of publication). Title of work: Capital letter also for subtitle. Location: Publisher.

Citation Management Tools

These programs can help you stay organized and will format your references and bibliography (in any style!) when you're writing. They can be a incredibly useful. There are other options out there, but Zotero and EndNote are both great choices.
