SPANISH 327s - Magic and Horror in Latin America
There's much more where this came from! If you don't find what you need here, please contact your librarian for the course, Roger Peña, Librarian for Latin America, Iberian and Latinx Studies.
In this course you are examining how magic and horror have been crucial tools in the production of Latin American cultural expression during the modern and contemporary eras. Featuring witches, monsters, metamorphic creatures, shamans, haunted spaces, and entranced experiences, the material of this course sheds light on issues related to coloniality, class, gender, race, and environmental crises. Through literature, visual arts, film, and popular culture, students will analyze how these themes manifest and continue to influence contemporary Latin America.
