Current Duke students, faculty, and staff have access to electronic library materials from off campus.
Most databases, eBooks, and other electronic resources use EZproxy authentication. Some databases require the use of the VPN. VPN may also work in cases when EZproxy does not.

Google Scholar is an excellent tool for searching across a set of scholarly journals and books. When you’re using Google Scholar off campus, you’ll need to set your Scholar Settings to recognize Duke University Libraries.
Once your preferences are set, you’ll see the Get it at Duke link next to your search results. The Get it at Duke link will connect you to the online or print version of the article/book in the library.
If you have any more questions about Google Scholar, Ask a Librarian!
Install LibKey Nomad in your browser and benefit from cover images, article in context links and one-click access to PDFs while you search. Examples below include screen shots from Web of Science and Scopus where the user has installed Libkey Nomad.
Most library resources are available from off-campus through the EZProxy system. Adding the EZproxy prefix to the URL resolves many off-campus access issues. This plugin adds the Duke University Library’s (DUL) EZproxy prefix to the current URL.
If you are on a journal and newspaper site and want to see if DUL has full-text access, click the plugin icon on the menu and test the site. If the resource is supported via DUL's EZproxy, you will be prompted to sign in with your Duke NetID and password. If you encounter the hostname error, it most likely means that we do not have access and need to contact asklib@duke.edu to verify that.
