As you consider how and where to find background information, imagine all the people involved in the design and creation of your monument. Who was the designer and artist? What kind of engineering did the construction require? Which social leaders and politicians advocated for the monument’s creation? Who paid for it?
Wikipedia? Yes! Wikipedia is an excellent place to start as you search for the context of your monument. It's not necessarily the best place to find scholarly, reliably objective research on a topic. It is a very good place to find the names of key figures, historical and geographical context, dates, measurements, and other ideas. Use this information as part of your search strategy when you dig more deeply into other information research tools.
