WR101 Monuments and Memory

Researching Monuments: Introduction

Researching a monument can incorporate many different perspectives: physical, geographical, aesthetic, cultural, social, historical and political, as well as countless others.

This research guide organizes these perspectives by categories of information, and the research tools used to access them.  The three basic categories are background, secondary, and primary sources.  Each facet will direct you to a list of research tools.

  • Background information
  • Secondary sources
    • Books
    • Scholarly journal  articles
  • Primary sources
    • Images
    • Maps
    • Social Discourse

With the current Covid-19 restrictions to library access and services, you may need to be more than usually inventive about finding information on your monument.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch me!
