Writing 101: The Problem of Poverty: Getting Started

I'll be working with your class to help you find materials and navigate the library's many services.

Please feel free to schedule an appointment with me (via the green button under my picture/name)--I'm based at Lilly Library--and you can always get immediate help from a librarian at the Lilly and Perkins public service desks (until midnight Sundays-Thursdays).

I am looking forward to working with you.

Start at the library home page to...

Search the online catalog [aka Books & Media] to find Duke Libraries resources like books, movies, even e-books.

Access your Library Account to see what you have borrowed, when items are due and to and renew titles online.

[Tip: click on the Duke Libraries icon to quickly get back to the homepage.]

Basic Library Tools

  • Articles - search in general or subject-specific databases to find full-text online from thousands of individual e-journals OR go to ALL tab to search across hundreds of journals and book chapters at the same time

  • Search TRLN - find and request items at UNC-CH, NCSU, NCCU in this shared catalog of resources

  • Document delivery - borrow a book from another library in the TRLN network or across the country if we don't have what you need

  • Overview of Library Services Guide - review what we learned in our library session and test your skills!
