This guide is intended to help you find the information you need to complete your assignments in Writing 101: Neanderthal Tales. Below you will see some resources that can help you with background information into your selected topic. To look at the different parts of this guide, use the links on the left.
The "Finding Articles" tab includes suggestions for finding scientific articles on your topic, help choosing and using databases, and finding the full-text of articles.
The "Books" tab helps you search for books in the catalog and find them in the library, or request them if they aren't on the shelf or at Duke. It also suggests other resources for finding books at other libraries in the Triangle, or all over the world.
The "Evaluating Sources" tab shows you how to distinguish scholarly from popular articles as well as how to make sure the books, articles, and websites you use are trustworthy. It also provides help on reading scholarly articles.
The "Citing Sources" tab tells you why, when, and how to cite sources and suggests tools you can use to keep track of your citations.
Finally, "Writing Studio Links" shows you how to write a literature review and tells you where you can get help with writing at Duke.
