Current Duke Law students, faculty and staff have access to the legal research systems LexisNexis and Westlaw. Zotero will not automatically fill in the citation information on Lexis or Westlaw, but documents on these sites can still be saved into Zotero. The work-around shown below will enable you to organize all of your research in Zotero.
If you use this method, you will need to complete the citation information yourself, but doing so will enable you to use Zotero's word processing plugins for Microsoft Word or OpenOffice to easily generate Bluebook citations. That is, when working in those databases, you will not see the Zotero material type icon in the address bar.
Use Zotero to capture the document from LexisNexis or Westlaw, by clicking on the Create New Item icon in the Zotero pane.
Click on the title of the new item you've just created, and then choose the type of document you are saving using the + icon.
Finally, enter the necessary information (e.g., title, section, year, etc.) under the Info tab to complete your citation.
From the Duke Law Policies on Library Use webpage, found here:
"Access to the LexisNexis and Westlaw research services is available only by individual password for current Duke Law students, faculty and staff, under the terms of the Library's contract with the vendors. Other sources for legal information, including a campus-wide version of LexisNexis, can be found on the Legal Databases & Links page. Consult the Reference Desk for assistance with LexisNexis, Westlaw, or other research databases."
