SimplyMap is a web-based thematic mapping application that allows researchers to explore a wide range of business and demographic data at a variety of geographies. The program provides data at a variety of levels from the nation to small geographies such as census tracts, block groups, and zip codes.

  • Food Desert Mapping Tool - The U.S. Department of Agriculture provides a mapping tool of food deserts broken down by census tract.  To access the map, click "Enter the Map" in the middle of the webpage.
  • Bus Routes - GoTriangle provides bus route and bus stop GIS data for the Triangle area.  Printable maps are also available under the "Maps & Schedule" heading.
  • City and County of Durham Open Data - Durham Open Data provides a wide range of data including crime, environment, health, transportation, and more.
  • NAICS Codes - The Census Bureau allows users to search for specific codes in their classification system.
